There is more and more talk about it but do you actually know what it is? It is the general name for proteins found in wheat, rye, barley, and triticale (a newer grain grown to resemble wheat but is tolerant to a variety of growing conditions). It is most commonly found in breads, pastas, cereals, and guess whatbaked goods! For people who suffer from Celiac Disease a gluten-free diet is essential and according to the experts about 1% of our population is affected!

Celiac disease is caused by an abnormal immune response and can cause damage to the lining of the small intestine. When damage is caused it can lead to a lower volume of nutrient absorption, which no one wants! The Natural Products Expo East is the East Coasts largest natural, organic, and health products event with over 23,000 attendees! It was a great experience and even better way to promote our Goodie Girl Cookie Line! The Goodie Girl girls even got a chance to sneak in a visit to Costas Inn to try out some of those famous Maryland steamed crabs. YUM!
